The Regional Clean Sea Organization (RECSO) held its Annual Board of Directors meeting at Dubai, the United Arab Emirates from 19-20 April 2016. The meeting was attended by its Board of Directors, Full and Associate members. RECSO even invited different Local Maritime Institutes, Oil Spill Response capabilities experts, and major Conference Organizers. The attendees were: Dr. Hasan A. Anbar (Aramco), Mr. Khaled Almenhali (ADNOC), Mr. Ijaz Ashraf and Mr. Abdulla Al Ansari (BAPCO), Mr. Hamed Al Haddabi (PDO), Mr. Waleed Al-Shael (SAC), MR. Maroof Khan (Marine Services), Capt. Yasser Ismael (Maridive & Oil Services), Mr. Mohammed Al Hamami & Mr. Hasan Al Yami (Petro Rabigh), Capt. A. M. Al Janahi (MEMAC), Mr. Salim Akram (Ministry of Climate Change – Dubai), Dr. Hatan Timraz (King Abdulaziz University), Mr. Henrik Petersen (International Maritime College of Oman), Mr. Andi Lee (Oil Spill Response Limited), Mr. Abdalla El Suleiman (Fairdeal Oil Spill Response Limited), Mr. Lyle Glowka (Convention of the Conservation of Migratory Species), and Mr. Tariq Omar Omer (RPS).
The previous and future activities of RECSO had been presented to the Board and the number of topics was discussed. Each representative from the invited companies also gave an overview presentations introducing their companies and there were some fruitful discussions following the presentations especially in oil spill prevention and environmental strategies.
The majority of the Board decided to retain Dr. Hasan A. Anbar as RECSO Chairman and appointed Mr. Khalid Almenhali as the Vice Chairman.
The two-day meeting was indeed successful.
