IMO Level 2 Training on Supervisors and On-Scene Commanders Course

The Regional Clean Sea Organisation (RECSO), in association with SEACOR Environmental Services Middle East (SESME), conducted a training course on “Environmental Impacts from an Oil Spill (Onshore and Offshore)” from the 24th & 25th July 2007 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Dubai, UAE.

The training course described different environmental resource systems and their potential for oil spill impacts together with response techniques and NEBA (Net Environmental Benefits Analysis). A number of topics were taught including; Oil Properties & Movement; Biological Impacts; Oil Toxicology, Chemistry, and Monitoring; Setting Priorities & Net Environmental Benefit Assessment; Case Histories; Impacts of Response Techniques and Desktop Exercise.

Participants were from a wide range of organizations and locations including; Saudi Aramco; Dubai Petroleum; Saudi Arabian Chevron; Maersk Oil Qatar AS; National Iranian Tanker Company; Kuwait Oil Company; Dubai Aluminium Company Limited; Qatar Petroleum; Dubai Police & Dubai Municipality.
